Mrs. Judy Haberl

Mrs, Haberl grew up Judy Wittenauer on a farm near Hecker, IL.  She attended Gibault where she met Mr. Haberl.  They now live in Waterloo and have 5 grandchildren!

Education:
Bachelors Degree - SIUE

Experience:
Mrs. Haberl has been at SPPCS since 1974 and has taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 5, as well as a split class of 2nd and 3rd graders.  She has also taught 7th-8th grade Chorus for the past nine years, and led the music for most of the school Masses during the past 30 years.  She loves her current jobs of teaching religion to children in grades 4 and 5, as well as being the music coordinator of Ss. Peter & Paul Church.

Awards/Accomplishments:
Mrs. Haberl considers it an accomplishment to have adapted to the many trends in education through the years.  She has also written over 25 songs, some of which she uses each year with her students.  Mrs. Haberl began the annual Children's Rummage Sale for the Missions as a service project with her 5th graders and has continued this event for 33 years.  It has raised over $65,000 for people in need.

Fun Facts about Mrs. Haberl:

Mrs. Haberl did not learn to play the guitar until age 25.  She has taught 7 of the teachers who now teach at SPPCS.  Mrs. Haberl especially loves a particular quote from a sign she found at one of her rummage sales:  "Working for the Lord does not pay well, but the retirement plan is out of this world!"
